Fighting Animal Overpopulation: Through our spay and neuter programs, we actively reduce the number of unwanted animals, helping prevent overpopulation and minimizing the need for euthanasia.
Improving Public Health and Safety: By ensuring animals receive proper care and vaccinations, we help prevent the spread of diseases, contributing to a healthier and safer community.
Strengthening Community Connections: Our partnerships with local food banks, businesses, and organizations enhance community support networks, making it easier for families in need to access the resources they require.
Promoting Volunteerism and Engagement: We offer opportunities for individuals to get involved, whether through volunteering, donations, or partnerships, helping to foster a spirit of compassion and collective responsibility within the community.
In essence, RESCUES ON85TH strengthens the community by supporting families, promoting animal welfare, and encouraging active engagement, ensuring both people and their FAMs can thrive together.
RESCUES ON85TH provides cat, dog, and other animal food and supplies through the NUTRITION ONE program to ensure that families in need can care for their FAMs (Furry Family Members) without having to choose between their own well-being and that of their FAMs. By distributing essential supplies, we help prevent FAMs from going hungry or being surrendered due to a lack of resources. The program supports families facing financial hardship, allowing them to keep their FAMs at home where they belong, while also promoting the overall health and well-being of both the FAMs and the families.
To support your FAMs' (Furry Family Members) physical, emotional, and mental well-being, consider the following:
Physical Needs:
Proper Nutrition: Provide a balanced diet suited to your FAM’s age, size, and health requirements. Ensure they have access to fresh water at all times.
Regular Exercise: Regular walks, playtime, and physical activity keep them fit and healthy. This also helps prevent obesity and promotes good joint health.
Routine Vet Check-ups: Regular visits to the vet for check-ups, vaccinations, and parasite control are essential for your FAM’s health.
Grooming: Regular grooming helps maintain their coat and skin health while preventing discomfort or infections.
Emotional Needs:
Quality Time and Attention: Spend time with your FAMs, offering love, companionship, and engagement. This strengthens your bond and provides emotional security.
Safe Environment: Create a comfortable, safe, and calm space for your FAMs where they can retreat to relax when they need quiet time.
Mental Needs:
Mental Stimulation: Provide toys, puzzles, and interactive games that challenge your FAMs and keep their minds active. For dogs, obedience training or teaching new tricks can be mentally enriching.
Routine and Consistency: Animals thrive on routine. Consistent feeding, playtime, and care can help reduce anxiety and provide stability.
Socialization: Exposure to different environments, people, and other animals in a controlled and positive way helps reduce fear and anxiety, supporting good mental health.
By meeting these physical, emotional, and mental needs, you’ll help ensure your FAMs live happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
Leaving deceased or injured FAMs (Furry Family Members) to suffer can have several negative impacts on the community:
Public Health Risks: Injured or deceased animals can pose health risks by attracting pests like rodents, flies, or other scavengers. They may also carry diseases that can spread to other animals or even humans, creating potential public health hazards.
Emotional and Psychological Impact: Witnessing or knowing about the suffering of animals in the community can cause emotional distress for residents. It can lead to feelings of helplessness, frustration, and a decline in the overall sense of community well-being.
Strain on Local Resources: Unattended injured or deceased animals can put additional strain on local animal control and rescue organizations. These organizations are often already operating with limited resources and may struggle to address such issues efficiently without community support.
Encouraging Neglect or Abuse: Allowing animals to suffer without intervention may inadvertently contribute to a culture of neglect or abuse, where individuals feel that it's acceptable to disregard the welfare of animals.
Decreased Community Compassion: Failing to address the suffering of FAMs can lower the overall level of empathy and compassion within the community, negatively affecting relationships between residents and the broader environment.
By ensuring injured or deceased FAMs receive timely care or proper handling, we can create a healthier, more compassionate community that values both animal and human well-being.
To support FAMs (Furry Family Members) in your neighborhood, consider these actions:
Provide Food and Water: If you notice stray or hungry FAMs, offer food and clean water in a safe, consistent spot. This can make a big difference for FAMs in need.
Create a Safe Environment: If possible, help create safe spaces for FAMs. This can include providing shelter for stray FAMs or reporting areas where they are at risk.
Report Injured or Sick FAMs: If you see an injured or sick FAM, contact local animal control or a nearby rescue organization to ensure the FAM gets the help it needs.
Adopt or Foster: If you're able, consider adopting or fostering a FAM in need. Many shelters and rescue organizations are overwhelmed and can use all the help they can get.
Promote Spay and Neuter: Support and promote spay and neuter programs to help control the FAM population and reduce the number of unwanted FAMs. You can also spread awareness about the importance of these services.
Volunteer: Many animal rescue groups and shelters need volunteers. By giving your time, you can help provide care for FAMs and assist with adoption efforts or fundraising.
Educate Your Community: Spread the word about responsible FAM ownership, the importance of animal welfare, and available resources for FAMs in need.
Donate: Donate supplies, money, or services to local animal rescues, shelters, or community programs that support FAMs.
By taking these actions, you can help improve the lives of FAMs in your neighborhood and contribute to a compassionate community.
To prepare in case your FAM (Furry Family Member) becomes lost, consider these steps:
Identification: Ensure your FAM has proper identification, such as a collar with an ID tag that includes your contact information. A microchip is also highly recommended, as it provides a permanent form of identification that can be scanned by shelters and vets.
Update Contact Information: Regularly check that the contact details on your FAM’s ID tag and microchip are up to date, especially if you move or change phone numbers.
Create a Lost Pet Plan: Familiarize yourself with local animal shelters, veterinary offices, and animal control in your area. Keep a list of important contacts in case your FAM goes missing. Know where to report a lost FAM quickly.
Keep Recent Photos: Have up-to-date photos of your FAM on hand, including clear pictures that show distinctive markings or features. This can help others identify your FAM if they’re found.
Familiarize Your FAM with the Neighborhood: If your FAM spends time outside, make sure they are familiar with the area. Familiarizing them with the environment can make it easier for them to find their way back home.
Secure Your Home and Yard: Make sure your home and yard are secure to prevent your FAM from escaping in the first place. Check fences, gates, and doors for potential escape routes.
Spread the Word: If your FAM goes missing, immediately share flyers with local veterinarians, shelters, pet stores, and social media groups. Online lost-and-found pet platforms can also be helpful for a broader reach.
Stay Calm and Act Quickly: If your FAM goes missing, stay calm and start searching immediately. Walk through the area calling their name, checking nearby hiding spots, and asking neighbors if they’ve seen anything.
By taking these precautions, you'll be better prepared to act quickly and effectively if your FAM ever gets lost.

Upon securing the founders FAM Furry Family Member/Neighbor, the stray now named Kurt Russell was hard to obtained due to abuse of neighbors, fed, groomed as matted hair seemed to be a broken leg, and vaccinated. He became the reason of for the pantry and education began. We also witnessed many deceased starved animals within the neighborhoods and those were abandoned or abused.
