Impact Partnership with The Lovelady Center: Expanding Access to Vital Services for Animal Welfare

At RESCUES ON85TH, our partnerships are essential to the growth and sustainability of our mission. Our past collaboration with The Lovelady Center marked a pivotal chapter in our efforts to address both human and animal welfare. Together, we were able to serve 750 furry family members (cats and dogs), directly benefiting 250 households across our community. This partnership allowed us to prevent 457 animal surrenders and avert 75 abandonments, ensuring that families faced with challenges could keep their beloved companions.

Distribution Locations & Services

Our partnership with The Lovelady Center initially focused on providing food and essential animal supplies to low-income households, reaching families in need across Jefferson County, Alabama. The collaborative effort allowed us to offer crucial support to households that lacked the resources to care for their furry family members. From our initial efforts, we were able to distribute over 200,000 pounds of pet food and provide free vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and other necessary supplies.

As the partnership developed, we expanded the range of services available to families facing economic hardship. The Lovelady Center served as a key distribution point, and our teams worked side-by-side to ensure that every animal and their family had the resources they needed. The partnership was instrumental in preventing potential animal surrenders due to financial struggles, enabling these families to keep their animals in a healthy and loving environment.

From Local Partnerships to Centralized Reach

As we continue to evolve, we’ve taken the lessons learned from this impactful partnership and are now strategically expanding our operations to a centralized location at BJCC Citywalk in Downtown Birmingham, Alabama. This move is designed to increase visibility, enhance accessibility, and allow us to expand our reach to even more families in need. While the partnership with The Lovelady Center was an invaluable starting point, the transition to a central location strengthens our ability to connect with more individuals, increase exposure, and scale our programs for greater impact.

By moving our distributions to a central location, we aim to engage with more participants, create stronger community connections, and work with even more partners. The new location allows us to offer services in a more convenient, accessible, and visible manner, ensuring that we can serve more animals, prevent more surrenders, and reduce abandonment rates across the city and surrounding areas.

The Future of RESCUES ON85TH

The centralization of our services represents a natural evolution of our work, allowing us to leverage past successes while positioning ourselves for long-term growth and sustainability. As we continue to strengthen our relationships with key partners and donors, our goal remains to serve over 1,500 animals annually, further reduce surrender rates, and enhance our educational outreach to ensure that every household has the tools to care for their furry family members.
